notes from rehearsal 5/20/13

In no particular order:
  • No rehearsal next week unless anyone's interested. Elaine will be at the Fellowship but lots of people are out of town. Give a shout out via email if you are going to be around and want to sing! Rehearsal after next week as scheduled until you hear different; Elaine may find from the poll that summer availability calls for rehearsals or something. She will update us.
  • We played with the turquoise hymnal a bit and found some fun stuff.
  • We will offer to sing for 5/28 after all (Ed's Memorial Day svc) - turquoise hymnal #1025
    • Please keep vowels dark
    • Please enunciate carefully
    • Stand by for service order/confirmation
    • Procedure:
      • 1x thru everyone singing top part
      • then break into 4 part round
      • watch Elaine for last verse signal
      • as each part gets to last note, stay there and stagger breathe til all arrive and watch Elaine for cut-off
  • Other pieces from blue hymnal we played with and can add to repertoire if they're not already there or in a new arrangement:
    • 1036 Calypso Alleluia and
    • 1031 (May I be filled with loving kindness)
      • For the latter we worked out a new arrangement:
        1. 1x thru piano and flute!! :)
        2. voices only (1st verse)
        3. voices and piano (2nd verse)
        4. voices and piano and flute (3rd verse)
      • Basically it rocks.
    1. For 6/30 - we will do "Breaths" (Listen more often...) from the green/blue hymnal - I don't have the number handy as I correct this here on the fly today :)  (23may) - will update later ... probably. We do not think we can be ready with "We Shall Be Free" or have all the requisite people for "Bright Morning Stars"
We said "¡Hasta luego!" to Heather - it was our last time to have her until September :(   Heather let us know if you want to sing with us via Skype! :)

As always please correct this as you see fit or let me know if you see nec. edits you'd like me to do.

    3. ok last corrections I hope - I had the wrong song on 6/30 - Mozart "Alleluia" is for the Sunday that has yet to have a theme (again I have the dates at home in my notes but not here with me as I write - dorkhead)

anyway see italics towards the bottom for 6/30 for corrections
