Hi Singers!

Sorry if you get 2 emails from me today.  I'm  not familiar with the " update "  button.

Rehearsal notes:
We worked on Out of the Stars, Imago Dei and Sanctuary. Discussed songs  for May 5 when we have a Hindu  speaker  vis a vis the issue of cultural appropriation.   Sara will ask Holly if the speaker requested that we sing a Hindu song. If  he did not,  feels like cultural appropriation,  if he did request -- then  more ok

Out of the Stars:  
Dave will be away
Need to work on dynamics
Consider publishing  lyrics in Order of Service since they are so critical to the song's making sense and they go by  pretty quickly.  I listened to the recording from a few years ago and was  quite impressed with the enunciation-- but just because we enunciate does not mean that the congregation will be able to understand!

Here are the themes for  worship through June and songs we discussed last night.  If you have ideas for songs, please let me know. I've shared some stream of consciousness ideas about the songs-- you may  add to this as well!

Nella Fantasia (girls)  speaks to the idea of  finding hope even in times of despair
Benedictus  (boys)  good for setting a meditative mood and giving comfort
Requiem  we hope to be able to offer this as a balm in times of emergency and pain
Adiemus--- a sense of wonder,  finding beauty in music, even if you don't know what the words mean--  letting yourself be carried away- trusting  your senses and letting go of the need to know what exactly is going on
Out of the Stars-- for any service about the earth or nature  for Earth Day,  maybe for Easter (April 21) ?
