Update re WSSR Invite
: This coming Monday Sept 23 is the day that the congregation is invited to come sing WSSR with us. I've posted it, published it, etc. I will make calls to people who have mentioned an interest to remind them. However, I will still be in Michigan next Sunday and can't talk with folks on Sunday. I need you to talk it up also.
I wish I had taken time to talk about this last night-- but o well. I'm realizing that I'm feeling a bit " stingy" with what songs to give up to others because I loved last year so much. I am working hard to give up the past and live in the present. This is, as S Clay said, a new era. I need to firmly come down on the side of Share the Music! Maybe some of you are feeling this too so I wanted to put it on the table for discussion.
I"m finalizing what songs to " offer". It will depend in part on who comes. Please comment:
1. Round and
Round: some say not, but how else would they get in?? I envision them processing in and sitting on edges of rows where they can easily join us but return to their seats again.
2. We are a Circle
3.
Wings MAYBE It's not too hard but need to sound etherial ( or is this my hate to give it up voice talking?)
4.
This Little Light
5.
Imani
6.
We’ve got the Power
7.
Carry it Home
Here is a copy of the invitation. I've written to the following people and pasted this in the email: Linda Law, Gail Brownlee, Ken Marsh Marty Bynum, Heidi Campbell. If you can think of anyone else, please write to them. I"m going to write to Scott Templeton this morning.
You've been interested in the Winter Solstice Singing Ritual-- so I wanted to be sure you are aware of this opportunity to be involved in it without having to give over your life to it!
Winter Solstice Singing Ritual 2013
If you attended last year’s Solstice event you know how magical and healing it was. We are doing it again and want to include more people in the choir, women and men, youth and adults.
Come share the wonderful spirit and community.
How will this work:
· Come to one rehearsal on Mon September 23 at 5: 30 in the sanctuary and sing along with She Sings. If you decide you want to participate in one or more of the songs, we will give you a score and a cd that you can practice with.
· We will rehearse these songs for several Sundays in a row at noon
· Attend dress rehearsal on Fri. night Dec 20
· Attend the Winter Solstice night Sat. Dec 21.
What you do NOT have to do:
· Sing anything you don’t want to
· Sing really hard music
· Be able to read music or have a GREAT voice
· Sing a solo
Call Elaine Fredendall 650 6824 or talk with anyone in She Sings if you have any questions.
Disregard if moot/you already thought of it but in the interest of time Monday evening should we just do the group numbers and dispense with the ones we know are just going to be us? I think at one point we were calling it a run-through but probably we should skip the non-everyone numbers?
ReplyDeleteDunno what is decided, but I think Susan's suggestion would be the best use of time, as well as not causing any confusion for our volunteers who might decide they want to sing a particular song we feel better doing on our own. It would also keep us on time.
