Susan Natale will join us on drum.

soirée planning/rehearsal etc at Elaine's

Soirée is April 12, 7pm - not quite 3 wks away - which info elicits various degrees of "eek!" from She Sings members…

So.

We met at Elaine's to do some thinking and planning and…

In no particular order, here is our list (italicized entries somewhat less certain than others) - of course yell if errors:

  • en groupe:
    • Willkommen
    • Give my regards to Broadway
    • Oh What a Beautiful Morning
    • Crazy little thing called love
  • singalong:
    • If I had a hammer (Sara - guitar)
    • possibly some of the group pieces will turn into singalongs
  • en solo or duet:
    • Have some madera, my dear - Paula
    • If I loved you - Susan Ch.
    • The Water is Wide - Sara (guitar and voice)
    • Nothing - Susan Cl.
    • Mendelssohn duet - 2 Susan C's w/ Elaine on piano
    • ________ - Jeff
    • Blues in F - Paula and Jorge
    • Ridin' the Rails - Elaine piano

We'll keep doing the group pieces at SS rehearsal, solos/duets please arrange with each other to rehearse as nec.

Notes for group Broadway pieces:

  • Willkommen - dynamics, listen to each other
  • Give my regards - dynamics, listen to each other, watch 8th notes
  • O what a beautiful morning - dynamics, listen to each other

Misc.

  • Elaine is/has sending/sent out info about figuring out food, etc. - stay tuned.
  • One idea that keeps resurfacing and seems good is that we mix up the music and the munchies - a few pieces of music, some food time, a few more pieces, some more food time, etc.

Notes from rehearsal 3/10/14

We will meet next week 3/17 after all even tho Elaine will not be here. We need to work on soirée stuff.

The bulk of the soirée will be dusted off pieces from the Broadway show. Paula is back and kindly agreed to accompany people on Broadway stuff. In addition to some of the Broadway pieces Susan C and Susan Ch will do the long-thought-about Mendelssohn duet, Sara and Susan C might do Pooh pieces from last summer, we want to do "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" that Elaine brought to us, etc.

Reminder Soirée is 4/12 at Elaine's. We're going to do a rehearsal/planning at Elaine's on 3/23, 5pm.

On 3/30 is singing for UU: Siph'anandla (grey hymnal #172) and I am Willing (Jeff has agreed to do solo again).

Other UU service dates:
4/20 - Yonder Come Day and possibly Pachelbel (grey hymnal #386)
5/11 - Heart of the Mother

Anyone who is free please consider coming to Elaine's piano recital on 5/16 to help sing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and generally to enjoy music/camaraderie.

ps the YouTube playlist ...

… has a fair amount of our repertoire/stand-by's on it too for rehearsing or modeling.

Partly for our new Susan and partly as a reminder to the rest of you

Don't forget the fun links in our blog sidebar. Specifically I wanted to mention for SW's benefit that the "UU Singin' Page" has links for a few of our most recent pieces and she could either listen or practice with them or…

Here's the link again for good measure and for access from you email copies:

https://sites.google.com/site/claysus/uufc-singin

I noticed that one of our earliest performances of "Heart of the Mother" is at the top; "I am Willing" and "Adiemus" aren't too far down either.

Notes from rehearsal 2/17, revisited

Republishing this so the links will be fixed in your email copies.

Belated happy bday to our Sherri Bo Berri! Hope it was great and hope you know how much we miss you!!

We missed Sara tonight who needed to be home with Jim. We hope all is well. And last but not least we all hope Paula is having a very nice stay south of the border!

Some slight changes in the singing plans…

3/30 we will plan to sing "I am Willing" - Jeff is interested in revisiting his solo, too
We might still sing hymn #172 "Siph'amandla"

4/12 - soirée - possibly we'll include Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"

4/20 - Yonder Come Day - I think still with Pachelbel too but we didn't mention it tonight

5/11 - Heart of the Mother

Last week Sara and the two Susan C's practiced hymn #292 as a trio. Elaine asked Jeff if he would be interested in joining us to do the bass and he is indeed interested. We don't have this slated for a specific date.

I forgot to mention last week, there is a chance we will do the Cups song at some point in the future. Feast your eyes and ears if you don't know what this is:

If that's still beyond us we probably should just default to this. I'll help everyone with the French :)
