Preparing for Our July 1 Service

Hi Everyone,

We have  just 2 rehearsal  before our service.  I've posted below a general template of an order of service.  THIS IS NOT SET IN CONCRETE. This is only a guideline.   We can move elements around, (such as separate the reflections) , ad or  delete, to some extent.

My goal is to get us brainstorming now so that we can be more efficient  during rehearsal.  Please think about:

  •  any ideas for solos you have
  • requests for pieces you hope we do
  • if you are doing a reflection,  does any particular song go well with it?
  • Anything I've missed

We may well need an extra rehearsal to make this smooth and high level.

 Please bring you calendars Monday.

Fave Things and Intermission thoughts

I have been feeling poorly lately and have not been able to put the time into Fave things that I need to keep it rock steady. Tough to keep anything steady when one has vertigo.  AND  the vocal parts are not easy.    Bottom line: I think we should cancel  Fave Things. IF we want to do it, do the regular one, perhaps saved as an encore selection.     I LOVE this piece and would love to work it up--  it could be a Valentines Day song-- our favorite things help us face the dog bites, etc.  Or our next showcase....

I am wondering if we need a full 30 min for intermission.  It's not like there will be a big line at the bar or bathroom--- what about cutting it down to 20?

I will also post this in email.

Rehearsal Recap and Next Week

Last night we ran through all the songs we are singing as a chorus.  Those are

Wilkommen
Give My Regards to Broadway*
My Favorite Things
Together Where Ever We Go*
Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair
Oh What a Beautiful Morning*

*Audience Sing Along

If you do not have a copy of one of these songs, check with me or Susan Clay for a copy.  Please be sure to put your name on music you already have.

I ask that all of us take a half hour a couple of times this week to run over the words of these songs.  We will have cue sheets available, but it would look much better if we could sing the songs without music in our hands.  Since three of these are "audience sing along" songs, precision performance is not vital -- it's not likely anyone will hear a mistake we make with the whole audience singing.

"My Favorite Things" is on probation.  If after our next rehearsal we aren't feeling confident about it, we will cut it.  If we perform it, it WILL be with music.

Soloists who wish to work with Paula this week must make their own scheduled appointment because she will not attend the Thursday rehearsal.  We will still have the Thursday rehearsal 6 pm at Susan Clay's, but we will use it to go through note-by-note help on problems spots, etc.  If we have time on Friday, we may run some solos then.  Soloists, you will have a music stand for a cue sheet available during your performance.

I have made some small changes to the song order (attached to this email) so please print it out and replace your current song order.

We will discuss and go over how we will move on and off stage.  We will walk through the song order.
